Module Goals

Course Goals:This course is intended to instruct the professional through a self-paced study of the Postsurgical Rehabilitation of The Elbow and Hand.

Professional Learning Objectives

  1. Define lateral epicondylitis or tennis elbow.
  2. Identify therapy guidelines during Phase l following surgical intervention of lateral epicondylitis.
  3. Discuss the ligamentous structures of the elbow.
  4. Discuss the bundles of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL).
  5. Identify the muscles that play a primary role in hand wrist function.
  6. Discuss surgical reconstruction of the UCL and when it is indicated.
  7. Recognize the complications associated with compression wraps that are too tight and ill-fitting braces.
  8. Explain the intermediate phase of rehabilitation following UCL reconstruction.
  9. Identify the most common complication after UCL reconstruction.
  10. Understand ulnar neuropathy.
